Classified lidar point clouds, clipped and reprojected

The full point cloud, done right: original classifications preserved (ground, vegetation, buildings), clipped to your drawn boundary, and reprojected to the coordinate system your project actually uses — including the vertical datum.

USGS 3DEP tiles are free, but they come as huge national-grid downloads that still need clipping, merging, and reprojection. ToposNow hands you exactly your site, in your CRS, as compressed LAZ.

Step 1

Draw your site

Only the points inside your boundary are delivered.

Step 2

Pick CRS and vertical datum

Any EPSG; geoid-grid vertical transforms; survey localization supported.

Step 3

Download LAZ

Classified, merged, and reprojected — ready for any point-cloud tool.

Built for

  • Feature extraction: buildings, canopy, powerlines
  • Filling gaps between field shots on a survey
  • AI/ML training data for terrain and object classification

Opens in: QGIS, CloudCompare, ArcGIS, PDAL, ReCap.

Common questions

Are the original classifications preserved?

Yes — the ASPRS class codes published with the collection (ground, low/medium/high vegetation, buildings, water and more, varying by collection) pass through unchanged. We reproject coordinates; we don’t reclassify points.

What point density should I expect?

Modern QL1/QL2 collections run 2–8+ points/m². Your site’s free availability report lists the nominal pulse spacing for every covering collection before you order.

LAS or LAZ?

Deliverables are LAZ (compressed LAS) — identical data at a fraction of the size. Every mainstream tool (QGIS, CloudCompare, PDAL, ArcGIS, Civil 3D via ReCap) reads it natively.
