Free example lidar data — try the exact product before you pay

These are three real ToposNow orders, produced by the same pipeline that fulfills paid orders — not demo files. Every deliverable is downloadable in full, free, with no account required.

Open them in Civil 3D, QGIS, or ArcGIS and validate that the data you would purchase is exactly what your project needs.

What each example order includes

  • Classified LAS/LAZ point cloud — the clipped, reprojected USGS 3DEP source data.
  • Civil 3D-ready DXF ground TIN surface — imports as a surface, not as loose points.
  • GeoTIFF bare-earth digital elevation model.
  • XYZ ASCII ground point grid.
  • Print-ready PDF contour map over aerial imagery.
  • The site boundary as a KML, so you can see exactly what area was ordered.
  • The order report and the receipt, as PDFs.

Why we publish complete orders

Terrain data is hard to evaluate from a screenshot. Point density, classification quality, vertical accuracy, and whether a surface actually imports cleanly into your CAD package are all things you can only judge from the real files.

Rather than ask for trust before payment, we publish finished orders end to end — including the report and receipt a paying customer receives.

Frequently asked questions

Is the example lidar data really free to download?

Yes. All three example orders are downloadable in full — every deliverable format, the site boundary KML, the order report, and the receipt — at no cost and without creating an account.

Are the examples real orders or demo files?

They are real completed orders, produced by the same processing pipeline that fulfills paid orders. Nothing about them is hand-tuned for display.

What file formats do the examples come in?

Each example includes a classified LAS/LAZ point cloud, a Civil 3D-ready DXF ground TIN surface, a GeoTIFF bare-earth DEM, an XYZ ASCII point grid, and a print-ready PDF contour map, plus the boundary KML and PDF order report and receipt.

Can I open ToposNow deliverables in Civil 3D?

Yes. The DXF deliverable is a ground TIN surface that imports into Autodesk Civil 3D as a surface object. The example orders let you confirm this before purchasing.
